Job Description:

The Township of Galloway is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Code Enforcement Inspector.  Under the direction of the Construction Official performs varied types of field and office work involved in seeing that residents, business establishments and citizens comply with various municipal ordinances relating to property maintenance, the NJ Public Health Nuisance Code and a variety of Township rules contained in the Codified Ordinances of the Township of Galloway.

Key Responsibilities include but are NOT limited to:

• Conducts field inspections and special investigations to ensure compliance with various municipal ordinances including mercantile licensing.
• Confers with and advises the Construction Official and Fire Official, the general public, other municipal departments and the Land Use Administrator of problems related to inspections, zoning and sign code enforcement, industrial and commercial development and other problems relating to the responsibilities of Code Enforcement.
• Initiates necessary legal action against violators of various ordinances, issues Notices of Violation and Summons to Appear in Court as required.
• Prepares necessary reports including a monthly activity report summarizing all inspections, violations, complaints and actions taken.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications:

• Experience in conducting inspections or investigations to detect violations of an ensure compliance with laws, rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of the provisions of the municipal rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
• Ability to make evaluative judgments based on clear, sound accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendation, and to establish and maintain needed records and files.
• Fire Official Certification
• A valid New Jersey Driver’s License
