Job Description:

Drives trucks and may operate light equipment. Checks and cleans trucks. Picks up, hauls, and delivers materials. Loads and unloads trucks. Performs manual and unskilled laboring work. Assists in emergency operations, including but not limited to snow removal. Considerable knowledge of the care, maintenance, and safe and efficient operations of trucks. Ability to analyze problems involving the operation of trucks. Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions. Ability to keep necessary records. Must have valid NJ driver's license.  Must possess a valid NJ CDL "A" driver's license.  Salary is based on qualifications.

 

Under the direction of Public Works Foreman, drives, cleans, services, loads and unloads trucks and trailers, and may operate light equipment. Performs related duties as required.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications

Must possess a valid New Jersey CDL "A" driver's license.

Experience

Three (3) years experience as a truck driver, one (1) year which must be experience as a tractor and trailer driver. Tractor and trailer experience within the past three (3) years is preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently enough to perform the duties of this position.
  • Considerable knowledge of the care, maintenance, and competent, safe, and efficient operation of trucks.
  • Ability to analyze problems involving the operations of trucks.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to drive trucks in a skilled and safe manner.
  • Ability to check, clean, and service trucks.
  • Ability to keep necessary records.
  • Be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, without endangering the health and safety of themselves or others.
